Press release on the terror attack in Mali
On June 18, a terrorist attack was perpetrated against the Kangaba resort to the east of Mali’s capital, Bamako. According to preliminary estimates, two people were killed, and a number of people wounded.
A counter-terrorist operation, launched by Malian and French special forces, as well as by the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), is currently underway.
The Foreign Ministry forcefully condemns this bloody crime that was clearly aimed at destabilising the situation in Mali and undermining the settlement process in the country.
In addition to this, the Foreign Ministry reaffirms its unconditional support to the efforts made by the Malian government to ensure security and to achieve national reconciliation based on the 2015 Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali.
