Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin’s meeting with co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on the South Caucasus
On March 16, State Secretary and Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin met with the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in the South Caucasus: EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Herbert Salber, UN Representative Antti Turunen and Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Gunther Bachler.
Participants in the meeting exchanged views on security in the South Caucasus, the situation on the state borders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia with Georgia, and the preparations for the new round of discussions in Geneva scheduled to take place on March 28-29, 2017. The co-chairs shared their impressions about their recent visits to Sukhum, Tbilisi and Tskhinval.
The diplomats confirmed their common intent to actively support the resuming of the Geneva discussions in order to reach concrete results, first of all, the non-use of force and stability in the region.
