Comment by the Information and Press Department on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s participation in the Munich Security Conference

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will attend the 53rd Munich Security Conference, which will be held in the capital of Bavaria, Germany, on February 17-19, 2017.

The annual Munich Security Conference (MSC) is widely respected as one of the most reputable and representative international venues for discussing current issues of Euro-Atlantic and global security.

As before, this year’s conference will be attended by the heads of state and government, foreign and defence ministers, as well as delegates from international and regional organisations and the expert community.

The conference will focus on the key aspects of the international and European agenda, primarily the world order, the future of European security, the fight against international terrorism, the situation in Syria, the conflict in Ukraine and the migration crisis in Europe, as well as the military and political situation in Southeast Asia, climate change and cooperation in the Arctic.

Sergey Lavrov is expected to deliver his remarks at a high-level plenary meeting in the morning of February 18.

Sergey Lavrov will hold bilateral meetings with some foreign partners on the MSC sidelines.
