The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs have issued the following statement on the events surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh:

“Moscow/Washington/Paris, April 2, 2016, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs (Ambassadors Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, James Warlick of the United States of America and Pierre Andrieu of France) are seriously concerned by reports of a large-scale violation of the cease-fire regime on the line of contact in the area of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We resolutely condemn the use of force and express our sympathy for the senseless victims, including among civilians.

“The co-chairs are calling on the parties to cease fire and take all necessary measures to stabilise the situation. We want to reconfirm that there is no alternative to a peaceful settlement of conflicts through negotiations and there are no military solutions.

“The Russian Foreign Ministry hopes that statements by international intermediaries will facilitate stabilisation in the conflict area.”
