Press release on the 35th BSEC Ministerial Meeting
The 35th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was held in Belgrade, Serbia, on December 13. It was attended by the foreign ministers and other representatives from Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine, as well as BSEC observers and sectoral dialogue partners.
The Russian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The parties exchanged opinions on multilateral economic cooperation prospects, measures to enhance the practical results of the BSEC’s operation, the strengthening of its finances and its role as the only full-scale international organisation in the Black Sea region.
The ministers approved an agreement between Russia, the BSEC and the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) to create a project financing mechanism for regional economic cooperation.
They approved a positive assessment of Serbia’s BSEC chairmanship.
Turkey, which will coordinate the BSEC’s activities as Chairmanship-in-Office from January to June 2017, discussed its priorities in this capacity, including the celebration of the BSEC’s 25th anniversary.
