Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC)
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s greetings to participants and guests of the 47th PABSEC General Assembly
As the Chairman-in-Office of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, I am honoured to welcome the participants and guests of the 47th plenary session of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC). The parliamentary aspect features prominently among BSEC’s activities and its importance has grown considerably of late.
Effective interaction between the parliaments of the Black Sea countries has become a new key component of BSEC’s efforts to strengthen mutual trust and understanding between the regional countries, to promote their stability and prosperity and to bolster mutually beneficial economic cooperation between them.
This forum will conclude Russia’s six-month presidency of PABSEC. In 2016, it coincided with Russia’s presidency of BSEC, which has helped strengthen interaction between BSEC and its Parliamentary Assembly and coordinate their efforts to more effectively resolve problems facing the organisation.
I am convinced that the PABSEC General Assembly session, the final documents it will adopt and Russia’s presidency will greatly contribute to our efforts to attain these targets of major significance at this point.
I wish participants of the 47th PASBSEC session successful and productive work in the interests of promoting mutual understanding and all-round cooperation between our nations.
