Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov Attends Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting
The 9th Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member countries of the intergovernmental regional forum Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) consisting of 31 Asian-Pacific and Middle East states took place in Tehran on November 8-9. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov represented the Russian Federation at the meeting.
Discussion on the theme "Towards Asian Solidarity and Integrity: Promoting Prosperity, Peace and Justice" has revealed an extensive coincidence in the approaches of the ACD member states to topical global and regional problems.
A Tehran Declaration was adopted at the end of the meeting.
The statement of the head of the Russian delegation emphasized Russia's readiness to continue to be actively involved in the work of the ACD in the interests of creating a more perfect regional security and cooperation architecture, overcoming by Asian countries the effects of the global financial and economic crisis and ensuring their sustainable economic and social development. Additional opportunities for this are opened by the Russian leadership's proclaimed course towards modernization and innovative development of the country and towards linking up Siberia and the Russian Far East to the integration processes in the Asia-Pacific Region.
It was decided to hold the next ACD ministerial meeting in Kuwait in autumn 2011.
