On November 30 there was the meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on «The situation and our policy in the Asia-Pacific region».

The Board reviewed the work march on the implementation of the course on the further active participation of Russia in regional integration, deepening of mutually beneficial relations with the countries of Asia-Pacific region in the bilateral and multilateral formats for the modernization and innovative development of the country including the social and economic growth of the regions of Eastern Siberia and the Far East. This course was determined by the President of the Russian Federation

There was the exchanging of views on the current trends of the situation evolution in the Asia-Pacific region. It was noted that the region is fixed as the leading center of global-economic growth, raises its profile in international politics. Integration processes in the Asia-Pacific region are gaining momentum and stimulating broad intergovernmental cooperation in the interest of the providing of political and socio-economic development.

However, the APR is still having the considerable conflict potential, as well as the wide range of traditional and new threats and challenges, which could seriously destabilize the regional and international situation.

The Board determined the set of measures aimed at active promoting of the interests of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region and participation in the formation of the relationship system here, which would be based on the rule of international law, the principles of equality, openness and indivisible security. The priority attention will be given to the further development of economical cooperation between Russia and the states of Asia-Pacific region, active embedding of our country in the processes of regional integration.
