Comment by the Information and Press Department regarding presidential election in Cote d’Ivoire
Cote d’Ivoire held a presidential election on October 25. According to official information from the country’s Independent Electoral Commission published on October 28, current Head of State Alassane Dramane Ouattara was reelected for a second five-year period after 83.66 percent of the electorate voted for him.
International observers, including those from the African Union, the Economic Community of West-African States (ECOWAS) and a number of African non-governmental organisations have recognised the election as transparent and trustworthy. They did not register any irregularities capable of affecting the results.
Moscow welcomes the peaceful and open election in Cote d’Ivoire, which has become an important stage in the democratic development of society in the country.
