According to incoming reports, a terrorist act took place in Algeria on August 19, claiming the biggest number of victims for the last few months. A suicide bomber blew up a car stuffed with explosives at a police school in Les Issers, Boumerdes region, 60 kilometers east of the capital. According to a preliminary estimate by the interior ministry, the blast killed 43 people and wounded dozens more. On the same day a joint army-police patrol came under attack on the outskirts of the seaside town of Skikda, with 12 people killed.
Extending our sincere condolences and sympathy to the kith and kin of those killed and injured, we strongly condemn the new bloody crimes of terrorists.
We reaffirm our solidarity with friendly Algeria, and our support of its leadership’s actions to wipe out the remnants of the terrorist underground. We are certain that extremists will not succeed in reversing the country’s advance along the road of progress and national consensus and reconciliation.
