Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov Speaks to FRG Vice Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier by Telephone
On August 17, a telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and FRG Vice Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier took place at the German side’s initiative.
In the context of an upcoming OSCE Permanent Council meeting on the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict the ministers discussed the tasks arising for the Organization as part of the efforts to implement the six-point plan agreed to on August 12 by the presidents of Russia and France.
The Russian side drew attention to the necessity of adopting in the UN Security Council a resolution endorsing a uniformly worded deal.
Conditions of expanding OSCE participation in ceasefire observation and monitoring were examined in this connection.
