Sergey Lavrov speaks and takes questions at a joint news conference following talks with Foreign Minister of Mali Abdoulaye Diop, Moscow, 9 September 2014

Ladies and gentlemen,

Foreign Minister of Mali Abdoulaye Diop and I had good talks. We agreed that the progressive development of Russia-Mali relations across all areas meets the interests of both countries and contributes to better security in this African region and on the African continent in general.

Both sides seek to expand trade, economic and investment cooperation. We have mentioned such promising areas as geological prospecting, mining, energy, including power equipment supplies, and infrastructure projects in addition to those that are already underway or have been completed with the participation of Russian companies.

We agreed to step up military and technical cooperation and expand cultural and humanitarian exchanges. A series of bilateral intergovernmental agreements covering these areas are being prepared.

Russia contributes to the stabilisation of the situation on the African continent in a variety of ways, including by helping to strengthen the peacekeeping capability of African countries, providing humanitarian aid and, of course, providing debt relief to African countries.  Full story Full Story

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov speaks and takes questions at a joint news conference following talks with Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldayev, Moscow, 4 September 2014

Ladies and gentlemen,

My colleague, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldayev, and I held good talks. We reviewed progress in the implementation of the agreements achieved by the presidents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan in all areas of bilateral relations, including the agreements reached during the meeting of the two leaders in Sochi in August.

Our relations have reached a qualitatively new level. Our alliance and strategic partnership across all areas, including political dialogue, as well as economic, trade and investment, military and technical, and humanitarian cooperation, have been infused with new meanings. There’s progress that brings real results, and benefits our countries and peoples. We focused particularly on economic integration in Eurasia. We are convinced that the accession of Kyrgyzstan to the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union will contribute both to addressing the issues facing the Kyrgyz Republic, and to the overall strength of bilateral relations between the member states of the Customs Union, including Russia and Kyrgyzstan. We provide the necessary assistance for creating the tools that will promote the development of the Kyrgyz economy and harmonise it with the Eurasian integration processes.  Full story Full Story

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov speaks and takes questions from the media during a joint news conference following talks with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tunisia Mongi Hamdi, Moscow, 2 September 2014

Ladies and gentlemen,

We are delighted to have Foreign Minister of Tunisia Mongi Hamdi here in Moscow. This is his first visit to Russia. Today, we continued the dialogue that we started during my visit to Tunisia in March.

Tunisia is Russia’s time-tested partner in North Africa and the Middle East. We welcome the progress of political reforms in a friendly country. We are confident that this will help us expand our bilateral relations.

We have confirmed our interest in promoting mutual trade and reviewing and coordinating projects involving the participation of Russian businesses in the Tunisian economy. The 2014-2016 Cultural Cooperation Programme and the Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism have entered into force. The number of Russians visiting this beautiful Mediterranean country has doubled over the past two years. This year we expect this number to grow by another 20 percent.  Full story Full Story
