Reply by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Alexander Lukashevich, regarding Russia’s reaction to the anti-Russian sanction introduced by the United States, the EU and other countries
Question: The United States, the EU and individual states, in particular Canada, introduced visa and property sanctions against several Russian officials, representatives of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Russian businessmen for their contribution to the organisation of the referendum in Crimea and the “disruption” of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including them in these “black lists” which have been extended several times. Will Russia respond in some way?
Answer: The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs already announced earlier that similar sanctions are being introduced against specific officials and legislators from the United States and Canada, but the Russian “black list” remains open. Then other western countries, following the example of the United States, extended their sanction lists, to include an additional number of Russian nationals. Of course, such actions cannot remain unanswered. Russia responded by undertaking similar measures.
