About approval of the report on the visit of the Executive Director of CTC to Russia by the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC)
The United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee approved the report based on the results of the visit of the Executive Director of CTC to the Russian Federation in October 2012 implemented for the purposes of evaluation of key provisions of basic counter-terrorism UNSC resolutions 1373 and 1624.
The report positively presents the multidimensional experience of the Russian Federation in the area of international counter-terrorism cooperation taking into account the role as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The emphasis was made on the issues of arranging the system of interagency coordination under the aegis of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee, transport security building, counteracting terrorism funding, proliferation of terrorist ideology and extremism. Large attention was paid to the problems of international and legal cooperation on the affairs related to terrorism, participation of Russia in the activity of profile international organisations, including in the context of provision of counter-terrorism technical assistance to partners.
The document notes weighty achievements of Russia in the mentioned spheres, as well formulates the recommendations related to the prospects of further interaction of our country with CTC.
The decision of CTC demonstrated the leading role of Russia in strengthening the system of international counter-terrorism cooperation and became another confirmation of innovative approaches of our country to the implementation of complex tasks of combating terrorism in accordance with UNSC resolutions.
